The lower stretch of the square, below the sand and the shoreline, is left as plain, pale color with nothing drawn into it — no more shells, no footprints, nothing that pulls the eye down there. It suits someone who has already made it clear they are not doing much for their birthday, or who would rather be told to relax than be invited to a party. It is not a card that assumes a celebration is happening; it assumes the opposite, and says that is a fine way to spend the day too.
