That separation matters here specifically: a comic line only works if every word and every letter is exactly right, and a misspelled denial reads as a mistake instead of a joke.

It suits a birthday text to someone whose pet has, at some point, been the prime suspect in a dessert-related incident, or really to anyone who will recognize the specific look of an animal caught mid-innocence. It is not a card for a stranger or a formal note — it is the one you send to a friend, with maybe a line of your own added above it, because the picture already carries most of the joke for you.

The scene stays entirely indoors and entirely still — nothing is falling, nothing is mid-motion, just a cat, a cake, and a very specific alibi. That stillness is part of what makes the joke work: there is nothing left to happen in the picture, which is exactly the point of a caught-in-the-act card.
